Also worth flagging that there's a near 50% chance (according to the NMME) we'll cross a +2.0F global temperature anomaly for multiple months later this year into 2027...
Zeke Hausfather@zekehausfather.com · 3d agoI'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.
can you guess where the pop up storm is ⛈️ (this is quite an impressive temperature contrast for east side to west side of Syracuse!!)

Just a reminder that Exxon hired its own climate scientists in the 1970s/80s who accurately predicted climate change... They then covered up their own scientists' work and pursued a campaign of disinformation starting in the 1996 so that they could continue profiting off the destruction of Earth.

We also know that human-caused climate change is making these temperatures at least 5 times more likely, as well as increasing the chance of dangerous humid heat.
Yes! Water cooling! This reminds me of Cornell’s lake water cooling system. It literally pumps cool water from Cayuga Lake to a heat exchange facility that then pumps cool water all the way up to campus. Incredible feat of engineering. Zero AC on campus
