If we had taken all the money we put into AI and put it into trains, we would have such great trains. What a waste.
Hot take: There are good restaurants in Washington state outside of Seattle. (At least 30.) New update from me! www.seattlemet.com/travel-and-o...

"It’s a natural wonder that might not be natural at all, something delicate that nevertheless represents enormous strength. And, of course, it’s that most compelling of sights: a ticking time bomb." @aliwill.bsky.social for @seattlemet.com.web.brid.gy:

The icon is slowly collapsing, but no one knows what its last day will be.

The problem is not that AI made up book titles. The problem is not that the AI art has six-fingered hands. They are surface signs of how little actual meaning is in AI creations. Factchecking the AI-generated slop so it can more seamlessly replace journalism will leave us all in a swamp of slop.
I would sleep so much better at night if it was (e) @michaelhobbes.bsky.social "Should we spy on Americans? I did 80 hours of research and the answer is yes, and then no."
Follow Seattle Met here on the Blueskies! Not only will you see my brilliant stories about PNW outdoors and travel, but you'll get Seattle food news from the source (that's @gastrognome.bsky.social) and a ton of good stuff from real journalists. Small pubs are still here and still doing the work!

There should be two (2) Wordles per day. One for a midday work break, and one at night BUT you only get your full allotment the next day if you put your phone to bed after the night one. Overscroll now and there are consequences tomorrow. (Also applies to Connections, Mini, and Strands.)
Florida's hurricanes bring to mind a lovely novel I got for Christmas last year, Lily Brooks-Dalton's THE LIGHT PIRATE. Imagines a world where the US pulls out of Florida after too many hurricanes—written from a place of affection for the region, not disdain. www.nytimes.com/2022/12/03/b...
After the Collapse of Civilization, a Return to Nature (Published 2022)
Lily Brooks-Dalton begins her novel “The Light Pirate” with an apocalypse; what follows is something like peace.

Finally engaging with Bluesky to share that if you have been shitty or idiotic to a woman born in the 1980s, especially if you're a dude, you've probably been savagely roasted in a group chat. Absolutely withering insults from women three time zones away who had you pegged from one screenshot.
Finally deleted Twitter off my phone and trying to engage here. But I need more people to follow here, suggestions needed!
