gorgeous framing of the idea that the increase in divorces in the 70s and later was not obviously a huge net good for society as well like no no you're right, before the 70s marriages were perfect, totally equal, the lower rate of divorce was definitely not due to massive structural disincentives-

zenlike@zenlike.bsky.social · 5d agoSo, this very sympathetic piece where the subject is “a lifelong Democrat who had voted for Trump for the first time in 2024”. 5 minutes of checking his facebook shows pro Trump posts as far back as 2019, and a post saying that he “stands with Trump” posted just a couple of days after Trumps coup.
what's crazy about this premise is that local businesses in minneapolis hated the ice raids, made it clear they hated the ice raids, lost a ton of money because of the ice raids, and were generally quite sympathetic to the people telling ice to get the fuck out bsky.app/profile/will...

The second paragraph is incoherent but so is the first. Young people saying they are focused on making money rather than starting a family is not an example of them casting aside religious values or secular ethics. His mind is dull and his writing is sloppy in both the original and modern sense.

The problem has never really been that conservative voters are reluctant to criticize Trump. The problem is a relentless right-wing media apparatus that tells them Democrats are worse.

You can't get anyone in political media to say it plainly, but GOP strategy for several decades now has been built around the fact that its core goals/policies are *wildly unpopular*. Everything depends on a) polluting the information environment, b) cementing unfair structural advantages, & c) $$$.
