Guardian writer, but one time I said something inflammatory to the US right & they called me a Diseased Pitmommy. So that's what I go by now

If Rod Liddle, RIP, were editing this Today obituary about himself, he would say 'what the fuck are you thinking, having two bros agree what a great guy I was? You're not even going to include a voice that mildly objected to me? Have you forgotten that my life's work was as a contrarian?'

My observation on British cultural life of the 21st century is that whenever a Real Person is pitched against Something Ridiculous (Attenborough v Boaty McBoatface, Liz Truss v a lettuce, Nigel Farage v Binface), Something Ridiculous wins

At some point this Government will come to its moral senses and realise that retrospectively denying people settled status/citizenship is wrong. With Reform on the horizon that moral imperative is even more urgent. It should be encouraging people to become citizens. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Morning everyone: I am looking for people whose adult kids still live at home, for a piece in the Guardian: I want to interview both sides, you don't have to be mean about each other if you don't want to. DMs open

In which I think @sturdyalex.bsky.social sounds thoughtful, measured, authoritative and mellifluous, and I sound hurried and WAY TOO LOUD, so if you can cope with me to get him, hard recommend

Some things that struck me, listening to R4 Today this morning, which I really try hard not to do. 1. Presenters describe Russia's invasion of Ukraine and then in the adjacent sentence "the war in Iran" as if it was something that randomly broke out and isn't, also, a war of aggression. Daft.
