Today @bethcimini.bsky.social and @damiandn.bsky.social lectured on image correction and colocalization. Key take-home: The computer can’t do magic; if you don’t collect photons at the microscope you can’t make them appear later.
What a day! After briefly enjoying the beautiful weather we went back into our dark microscope rooms and learned more about SNR and the different sources of noise in images. Did you know you can report intensity values as photons instead of arbitrary units?

This is me!! Currently in the QI course at CSHL… 🔬💡 It’s been 3 days (or 2 weeks??) and I’ve learned that NA means more than “not available,” that Köhler was very into conjugate planes, and that my eyes suck at a level I didn’t know was possible. Very excited for what's coming!! 👩💻
