YA author of Harrow Lake, Wicked Little Deeds/Burden Falls, and other creepy stuff. The Devouring Light coming this Oct. She/her. https://linktr.ee/katelliswrites?utm_source=linktree_admin_share

Plotter, for sure, though my outlines are always kind of loose and subject to change. I feel like that way of working allows me room to explore as I write, and keeps my excitement for the story as I’m telling it while avoiding tripping up because I haven’t planned ahead. #ukteenchat

7, Are you a plotter or a pantser? @katelliswrites.bsky.social #ukteenchat #TheDevouringLight

My childhood fear of leeches and quicksand (inspired by 80s movies like Krull) definitely played a part! And I’m a huge fan of haunted houses — I’ve visited a few on ghost-hunting adventures — so it was really time for me to write a novel that plays with that trope. #ukteenchat

2, Was there anything in particular that inspired The Devouring Light? @katelliswrites.bsky.social #ukteenchat #TheDevouringLight

The Devouring Light is a YA horror about a group of rival musicians whose tour bus crashes on the way to a rock festival. Stranded in a deadly swamp, they take shelter in a creepy, abandoned house… but the house seems to have been expecting them, and now it won’t let them leave. #ukteenchat
