“They’re trying to say he went pro, which he didn’t.” A University of Maryland soccer player heads to court after the NCAA said he turned pro when he went on loan to Vancouver while under an MLS NEXT PRO contract. Confusing right? Interesting story reported by my WTOP colleague John Domen.

Live at a sunny Audi Field as the Washington Spirit prepare to take on the North Carolina Courage. Starting 11 has 2 changes from last week: Sullivan is in for Bernal & Martinez is in Cantore. MacIver (GK); Carle, Rudd, Morgan, Wiesner; Santos, Sullivan (C), Hershfelt; Metayer, Martínez, Rodman

For the tens of you going to Audi: Aboukoura the most talented of the XI Aman has motor to burn, happy to take folks on Outside backs (Awuah) good for USL Young has got vision to get balls to attackers TL;DR only recently healthy LDN group, good for a challenge but manageable for DC

A Washington Spirit spokesperson says conversations are "ongoing" with Victory+ to stream Sunday's home match, which was scheduled to be the final regional broadcast of a 7-match deal. Fans can also watch the game on CBS Sports Network. The Spirit's Oct. 4 match at Houston has been moved to NWSL+.

A final follow-up on this so we are all on the same page (thanks to Jason for helping brainstorm this): DCU has 8 international spots. 3 (for now) are open. Those occupying have come this year: Silvan Hefti, Andre Dozzell, Keisuke Kurokawa, Louis Munteanu (DP spot as well), and Nikola Markovic.

Been trying to get this sorted for a little while, especially after comparing notes with @joseumana.bsky.social after Saturday's DCU win. Per DCU comms, the team has 8 international spots, of which 5 are occupied. Matti Peltola, João Peglow, & Kye Rowles at some point received green cards.

CBS gets the Concacaf men’s Champions Cup through 2030. All games on Paramount+, some games also on CBS Sports Network and Golazo. Will be interesting to see if that gets the tournament more attention in the U.S.
