Theory: It's just that they are all still on Twitter, and they credulously mistook Musk's manipulation of the algorithm as the manifestation of a genuine cultural change. Maybe it's not any more complicated than that.

one of the locals I know who was one of the biggest Trump backers for years was slagging him off the other day over high fuel prices it may be asinine to blame a president for pain at the pump but lots of people do tie markers like that to presidential performance

My parents were school teachers and they had to be pushed into retirement. It’s sad what has been done to drive teachers to this. Teachers love(d) kids and worked that job because of it. Decades of Republican bullshit and parental abdication have ruined this career path.

This all doesn’t magically go away when this admin does. Trump did not change the nature of this country, he helped reveal it. Countering that is work that won’t be complete with a single election. Fight, win, enjoy the win, but metaphorically beating these monsters back is just life forever.
In every Kol Nidre service I’ve attended, a rabbi (aware of the long history of antisemites saying this) always points out that the Kol Nidre prayer absolutely does not mean you have moral or legal permission to lie. One might note, eg, that bearing false witness is one of our top ten no-nos.

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

Yes, flipping the Senate is essential and can stop bad laws and bad judges from happening, but she can do it without my support from the lower 48.
If you're a Dem who thinks you'll gain something by going anti-trans, look at Gallup's "most important problem" and Fox News' "most important issue" polling and see where trans issues rank. Whoever told you going anti-trans is a savvy or necessary move spends too much time on X and should be fired.
