Really delighted to see this article with @lucasgeese.bsky.social finally out. Using speech analysis + elite interviews, we show that UK MPs give less attention to decarbonisation when they represent more carbon-intensive constituencies — especially among Conservative MPs and in marginal seats.

Bit of an awkward coincidence that our paper comes out on the day Kemi Badenoch pledges to scrap the UK Climate Change Act, but perhaps provides also a bit of an explanation: Many UK politicians, and Tories especially, still don't fully grasp the urgency of cutting greenhouse gas emissions! 👇👇👇👇👇👇
