I highly recommend this excellent book about Greenland, "Glimmer", by Polish reportage author Ilona Wiśniewska, who has spent many years in the far north. It’s a vivid account of the hardships of life in such a difficult climate. Now in English translation by Kate Webster. akoyapublishing.com

I spent years tracking her purchases through the records she left in three archives. Finally, I found a missing notebook where she recorded exact prices and sellers for 513 objects — sometimes labeling the seller simply "chor." In Nepali, that’s “thief.”
Her name was Mary Slusser. Over the next 5 years she bought hundreds of sacred Nepali artefacts — deities, temple carvings, ritual regalia — removed illegally from their communities. Yet, she's still celebrated as a foundational scholar of Nepali studies.
