“I love the work I’m doing. But I can’t be assured that I can live to a good standard.” Jonathan, a 25-year-old retail worker in Sweden, says involuntary part-time work makes him unfree. He is unable to plan his free time, to afford dental care, to buy a home or to think about starting a family.

Our Regional Secretary Oliver Roethig joined thousands of protesting workers in his hometown Essen, Germany, today. German unions, including UNI affiliates ver.di and IG Bau, mobilise across 15 cities today against the government's sweeping cuts to the welfare state.

Today, we rallied in Brussels outside the @ec.europa.eu and @consilium.europa.eu together with workers and trade unionists from all across Europe against deregulation and social dumping. We will keep fighting to "fix or sink the EU Inc" that would allow companies to evade national labour standards.
