I'm a translator from Spanish and Portuguese, have Englished writers including Michel Nieva, Vicente Luis Mora, J.H. Bortoluci. Maybe trying some other stuff too.

EYE OF GOLIATH is an incredible WWI gothic novel, soaking in the ethers of early psychiatry, empire’s decay, the natural terrors of isolation & the sea to create a really tight and gripping tale of trauma, violence, doubles and shadows above and below. Also, there’s a badass evil black cormorant

Two works of #SFinTranslation are on the longlist for the National Book Award for Translated Literature: Vicente Luis Mora's Centroeuropa, translated from the Spanish by Rahul Bery Intan Paramaditha's Night of a Thousand Hells, translated from the Indonesian by Stephen Epstein and Tiffany Tsao

Today programme about to platform someone advocating for ‘AI rights’. Off it goes. If AIs have rights then they should also be subject to the rule of law. If so, they are by their creators’ own admissions guilty of massive levels of theft, and so can go straight to jail and enjoy their rights there.

buying a button accordion even though I've only been playing tenor banjo for 3 years and even if I just played that for the rest of my life it wouldn't be enough. also deeply coveting an 80s/90s boxy volvo or mercedes (but holding back as I think having two cars is deeply crass and wrong)

What are you doing with your midlife existential crisis? No wrong answers. Just trying to see something, as the kids say.

just discovered that someone (with lots of followers) who used to gleefully sub-tweet me rather than engage doesn't allow replies or quote posts to their posts on this platform🤔 luckily i remembered to (re)block them so i don't have to read their 100% and un-critique-able opinions any longer

I'm proposing the permanent destruction and abolition of England. The football team, the country, the language, the very concept, all of it. It can all just be absorbed into greater Wales/ Cymru Fawr.

In my experience, the parents who are most agitated about it are those whose children are still years away from it, view it from afar as an impossible parenting challenge, and are desperately hoping the government will take this imminent responsibility away from them

Got into an argument on Sky a few weeks about about banning social media for teens. "But parents want it!" Sure, but that doesn't mean it will work or is a good idea! How about a serious conversation about what social media is doing to all of us, adults included? Or is that too difficult?
