If anyone ever wanted advice from me about writing plot, I’d recommend reading plays, because plays are often amazing at complicating a narrative through character action & subtext. Sometimes prose writing relies too heavily on interior voice & description & risks being flat or static as a result

I do wish I had been in a better place in my life to promote Feast when it came out. I did my best with the resources available to me, but it’s hard not to feel as though I failed the book in some way

Something I’d like to complain about is how when people talk about film and television, they often complain about the writing when they really mean the editing or directing It can often be the writing! Don’t get me wrong. Bad writing is real. But also good scriptwriting is often eaten or flattened

It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society
