All the posturing from councilmembers on the budget is funny because they literally can just change it. It's funny but also sad. They're just doing it for political brownie points.

Growing SPD to match Denver, SF, or Boston's officer numbers would grow SPD's budget to be anywhere from 31-39% of the bugdet (from 24%). Considering the budget deficit this would mean that the rest of the budget would need to shrink anywhere from 15-24%. Nearly a 25% cut is insane!

The situation in Haiti is terrifying. On Sunday, 150 gunmen swept down on a town to kill, rape, loot, and burn. 22 people were executed in a churchyard. 52 were taken hostage. Stephen Miller mockingly says Haiti is safe and ICE just sent its second deportation flight this month; with kids on board.

I do wonder if the AI code maximalists inspect the code frontier models produce. I literally use Opus 5 and Sol 5.6, all day, every day, at work and it still produces incorrect things sometimes. Letting incorrect info into a repo quickly becomes garbage in -> garbage out for future code.

It would be ironic if in the quest for artificial general intelligence, instead of AIs maximizing "paperclips", it was select humans devoting as much energy and money as possible into the goal of AGI only to still never reach the goal.

ROUTE 8 and DENNY WAY: starting on Saturday, buses and cars merging onto Interstate 5 won’t compete for the same lane of Denny Way. To keep traffic flowing, people driving to I-5 south from eastbound Denny Way will turn right on Boren Ave and left on Howell St instead of using Yale Ave.
