“woke” is “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.” - Ron DeSantis' attorney (finally got one right) https://www.raceclasspodcast.com/

This article succeeds where most on the same topic fail (most notably Heller's infamous New Yorker piece on the 'end of the English major') bc it shows the relationship between 'declining majors' and 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤, 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 defunding and disinvestment in programs administrators want to diminish or end.

Congressman Brandon Gill accuses Muslims of threatening religious freedom in schools. But it’s Christian nationalists forcing Bible study into schools in his own state of Texas.

Race/gender is the tip of the spear. Scientists next in line. Texas A&M … may soon have fewer classes related to LGBTQ literature, climate change and women writers that would meet graduation requirements under a proposal to remove more than 200 classes from general-education course lists.

About 200 courses may be cut from Texas A&M System’s core offerings

More than 200 courses, including those on LGBTQ literature, cultural studies and climate change, could no longer count toward core degree requirements at 11 Texas A&M universities.

HAPPENING NOW: The Texas A&M Board of Regents is meeting to discuss a proposal to remove more than 200 classes on everything from LGBTQ literature to climate change to women writers to Latinx literature to intro to race & ethnicity from general education course lists.

Victor’s right. If we take him seriously (we should) gta reckon w fact that every uni that sheds DEI and says “time to double down on academic excellence” (👋 Ivies) is saying a university can be segregated and be excellent. That’s no less racist than Trump. bsky.app/profile/vict...

When, in January 2025, I wrote that the Trump administration was segregationist folks said I was exaggerating. I would have *loved* to be wrong about this but the unfortunate evidence remains on my side. This is just racism, pure and simple.

Trump Moves to Strip Tax Exemption From Schools That Aid Minority Students (Gift Article)

The Treasury Department released rules that would prevent schools with race-based programs from qualifying for tax-exempt status, a threat to both higher education and other private schools.

To be crystal clear: the goal is to make integration illegal. (Or slightly more nuanced: to turn racial inequality into a legal entitlement) SCOTUS slapped the idea down a couple years ago when Pacific Legal argued that DEI violates EPC. But they won’t stop trying. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/03/b...

it's also worth noting that these voter suppression efforts all assume that D voters are less committed, and that making access more difficult benefits the GOP. that was true 20 years ago. it's very unclear it's true now. 1

Happening now in TX: Voters in battleground Tarrant County are telling GOP local officials what they think of their plan to cut 30% of voting locations this year “Nothing you can do can stop us from removing you in November”

We know what this is. Voter suppression 101. Removing nearly 100 polling sites makes it exponentially harder to vote. But it won’t stop us. LDF’s Black Voters on the Rise election protection team can help voters navigate the chaos: LDF.vote fortworthreport.org/2026/09/01/a...

Tarrant County’s November elections will have 92 fewer places to cast ballots than 2022

County commissioners approved a list of sites that drew criticism from voting rights advocates and local civic groups.
