Now for what I think is the good news: affidavit votes in Lafayette County, Mississippi broke for Scott Colom by roughly 70 percent (142 to 60, with a handful for Pinkins).
Almost 24 percent of those rejected were because the voter cast a ballot at the wrong precinct. In Mississippi, we're learning this happens way too often. Polling places close, or locations changed with little notice given. See the excellent work on this from @mississippifreepress.org
Nearly 58 percent of those rejected were the result of the voter not being registered in Lafayette County. In my observations of election commissioners yesterday, it was apparent that many believe they're being registered to vote at the DMV, only to learn on election day that isn't the case.
I tallied up the affidavit counts today at the Lafayette County courthouse in Mississippi. Here's some data on just this one county in Mississippi: 437 total affidavit ballots were cast. 203 of those were rejected (not uncommon for a college town like Oxford).

Democratic control of government is not a guarantee of anything unless you can get the party to stop treating public higher ed as taxpayer subsidized job training.

i would say all (nearly all?) the good things that have happened to public ed in MA are because @massteacher.bsky.social @seiu509.bsky.social @aaup.org & other labor/labor adjacent groups of higher ed workers made it impossible for Dem leadership to say no. tax the rich. fund the schools.

This is true -- and, keep in mind that the GOP lost more seats than would be predicted based on economic models of incumbent midterm loss (and despite extensive gerrymandering making it hard for them to lose). These historic losses should be interpreted as a rejection of authoritarianism.

Not only will it have a tangible impact on affordability and economic development in those states, more density is associated with bluer electorates.

Agents are openly ignoring provisions of the PROTECT Act (violations are being documented and reported to the Attorney General's office).
