Things fall apart- the center cannot hold
Yes. Fun fact, a clear majority of Americans aged 18-34 already disliked Israel and were significantly more skeptical of the bipartisan consensus *before* October 2023. What changed? A nearly 70 point swing among those aged 50 and up.
The polling has been pretty clear so far. Pro-Israel Democrats are mostly changing their minds about being pro-Israel on a policy level. Some won't. I've seen more than one complain that they're now politically homeless because the Republican Party is full of Nazis.
He mentions the exact same things I wrote in my explainer thread on why he is doing what he's doing and he doesn't intend to stop for many reasons, which I guess you will see translated soon. Anyway, buckle up war is coming. bsky.app/profile/sala...
And here we arrive at the very end and the crisis of tonight. Tusk is absolutely angered by the tricks they have been playing with the President and the opposition. So, he decided to no longer play their game. The most shameless PIS judges are being forcibly removed today.
What you need to know: CoreCivic Inc is a linchpin of the prison-industrial sector and a huge giver to Donald Trump and the GOP. This deal was concluded with a clear expectation that a big chunk of the purchase price would be recycled to the GOP.
Damn, it’s nice to see a climate dataviz that shows humans blasting past projections in a *positive* way. Last week I (belatedly) learned about @aukehoekstra.bsky.social's 2017 Twitter-famous solar capacity chart. Here's my animated homage. Read more here: www.jenchristiansen.com/climate/exce... 📊
I wonder if a new development in the "President of the United States raped kids and was best friends with the most notorious pedophile in US history" story will be considered worthy of as much attention by our political press as the latest turn in the Obama Cheesecake Factory Joke Saga
Hopefully between this and the new Epstein report, we'll see more movement on this soon. As the Judiciary Democrats report notes repeatedly, there is no statute of limitations on many of the crimes Trump was accused of. apnews.com/article/trum...

just completely and utterly hatstand. also, 'I could have a cushy City job' feels more than a little delusional, tbh:

Whatever one thinks of Janan Ganesh‘s general point, this column is very misleading. Thomas Mann was anything but apolitical during the time when it really mattered: the Nazi period and the war. His BBC lectures “To the German people” called for resistance and described Hitler’s many crimes. /🧵
To those of us who have studied German history and indeed literature, the suggestion that sophisticated ennui and detached self-care is the right way to deal with historical turmoil is rather painful.
"POET has been pleased with the results so far and plans to switch off its gas boilers nearly year-round. The cost of the steam it gets from Antora is competitive with buying natural gas, the company said. "

ARRESTS ONGOING After almost 6 hours the Met Police have arrested less than 200 of the around 400 people holding signs outside the US Embassy in London. This Trumpian ban is absurd, dystopian and unenforceable. Sign up at www.wedonotcomply.org
