Completely unserious and a result of normalizing white supremacists. Guiliani’s presence offends the ballot box. Election denier who targeted and terrorized Black election workers in a majority Black voting district, please have several seats.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he will attend ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, responding after former Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Mamdani's presence would offend him.

Thx to everyone who decided to be in community with us as we unpacked how to effectively cover the unraveling of civil rights, DEI in this nation. The feedback has been meaningful. S/O to fellow panelists Aaron Morrison, Kat Stafford & Sabrina Wilson for leading such a powerful convo. #nabj26

“Don’t get mad, get smart…” Ambassador Young offering a charge (and some world history) to Black journalists during our NABJ Board of Directors meeting (that’s my Morehouse journalism student Fredrell Greene at the mic).

The president's authority as "commander in chief" refers to the military only. The president cannot use executive orders to expand the definition of who is eligible for birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment. The president's aide saying these things is a virulent white nationalist.

Stephen Miller: "The president is using his authority as commander as chief to sign an executive order using the new ruling the Supreme Court issued to expand the definition of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship. That includes, for example, alien enemies ... "

Finally found a physical copy of Essence Magazine (Barnes & Noble in Buckhead). Thank you for including The Price of Exclusion on this summer reads list. So many good books have come out this year. Grateful for this moment and the chance to share it with Phill Branch and Amena Brown. ✨

This also played out in local and national coverage of the Big Lie. Election deniers’ false claims were often treated as sides that needed to be extracted and platformed. When no evidence of such claim could be seen, their lies were still platformed (sans pushback).

This is exactly what I run into with conspiracy theorists — a stray, unverified claim gets treated as if it debunks the real story, and it almost always falls apart under scrutiny. Wild to hear that pattern showing up at 60 Minutes as Cecilia Vega describes it.

The Price of Exclusion at the NAACP National Convention. Thank you to every reader, author and the Da Book Joint for loving on our history, our stories, our books. Honored to be in the number. Til next time…

An amazing event with Nicole Carr at Quail Ridge books tonight. Moderated by Joel Brown from ABC 11 News and it was probably one of the most important conversations we've had in our store in a long time. We've got copies of Nicole's newest book The Price of Exclusion in our store now.
