Respectfully, one difference MIGHT be that when a writer's room gives an Indian actor dialog for an Indian character that might be inauthentic, offensive, or ill-considered, they MIGHT at least be in a position to recognize/call that out.

So, a voice actor who was affecting a strong Indian accent is being replaced by.... a voice actor who will be affecting a strong Indian accent. "But it's OK, because...." You're an idiot. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I'm going to tentatively and hesitantly suggest that THE SIMPSONS should have just dropped Apu as a character. I haven't listened to the new voice actor but I'm already seeing some bad/dumb takes and I don't think there's any winning at this point. Maybe time will convince me otherwise but... UGH.

A mod of a new subreddit for Irish Illustrators sent me a message to invite me to post there. I took a look at the rules, and noticed that the use of AI isn't outright banned (instead, people are required to disclose its use). I sent a "thanks, but no thanks."

Hi there, thank you for the invite.

One thing I want to make clear before I decide to regularly post on this sub: I think having people having to disclose the use of AI in the rules is a good start.

However, I think the use of AI should be outright banned, especially on a sub that is for illustrators. You let one person in with AI (even if disclosed), then your sub will get absolutely flooded with that stuff.

If you decide to change your mind on allowing AI "art," then I will consider posting my art to this sub. Otherwise, I will have to give it a miss.

I have NO idea what to make of DIGGER. I haven't seen it and certainly won't until it drops onto a streamer I already subscribe to. Just looking over the concept and plot synopsis, my question is whether it NEEDED to cost as much as it did. It reads like a stage play where...

Silly to treat Digger, of all movies, as the great test case. the last chance for audiences to prove that they will embrace an original movie not based on existing IP. I guess Sinners and Weapons and Marty Supreme and Obsession never happened. It's fine for a movie to be a divisive flop. It happens!

🎶It's time to try defying gravity. I think I'll try defying gravity. Kiss me goodbye, I am defying gravity. And you won't bring me down!🎵 And do you think I've EVER accepted limits? 😘 My future (and bra size?) certainly FEEL unlimited. 🥵 Art by the amazing @softestcore.bsky.social!!! #HyperSky

*extremely tired voice* "Make TV shows of 10-20 episodes a season ... *sigh* ... that come out on a yearly basis *lays down on the ground, stares into the sun* ... of 5+ seasons." There. There. Theerrre is your solution.
