Well I started the week by rewriting my outline with the Save the Cat beats. And then most of the rest of the week I'll spend working on other project so when November comes around, I can shove those to the side and work on just Luminhaven. #FirstDraftFall

Monday #FirstDraftFall Check-In: What aspects of story planning are you going to work on this week? Do you have a specific goal?

It depends on the story. But typically what the character wants and the journey they need to go on, and what stands in their way. Which sounds like the basics but I usually have an outline that's around 2,000-3,000 words so...that too! #FirstDraftFall

What do you need to understand about your world, characters, or story before you can feel comfortable starting your first draft?

No Questions Asked is a standalone novel. I eventually want to write 2 interconnected trilogies but they'll still all be standalone books. I've obviously seen romances go more than one book but I don't think I have the skill or patience to pull it off. 😅 #FirstDraftFall #WeeknightWriters

Is your #FirstDraftFall project a standalone or part of a series?

This is a semi-standalone book in that there's a clear resolution, but as a magic school book there's always next year! AKA if a publisher bit off on 6 books it's gonna be 6 books. I could be so lucky! #FirstDraftFall #WeeknightWriters

The Luminhaven Chronicles will be a 6 book series. I have the remaining five books roughly plotted out already. It's spiritually a bit of a sister series to @alliecampbell.bsky.social 's WIP this fall (in that we branched off of the same TTRPG campaign and we're aiming for 6 books). #FirstDraftFall

At the start of Luminhaven Chronicles #1, Auri lives in Ardyl, a small town in Scaunia, where her family runs a tea shop. She's bored to tears with everything about Ardyl except for its naturally occurring windpool, which is her happy place. She can't wait to escape to Luminhaven. #FirstDraftFall

Where does your MC live at the beginning of the story? What does their life look like?

A1. I'm going to be working on the first in a 6 book YA fantasy series featuring two cousins: Auri, who is 13 and just starting at Luminhaven Preparatory School for Legends; and Damián, who is 18 and in his final year, but investigating the disappearance of his best friend. #WeeknightWriters

Q1: What kind of project are you working on for #FirstDraftFall? #WeeknightWriters

Notepad that says “#WeeknightWriters: What kind of project are you working on for #FirstDraftFall?

For October, I'm working on my usual projects (Time's Sacrifice Book #2, Luminhaven Chronicles #1 and Fox Eyes). Mostly getting everything to a good place so I can lock in in November. In November, I'm going to be drafting Luminhaven solely, because I CANNOT get out of the brain rot. #FirstDraftFall

Why did you choose this project to write for #FirstDraftFall?

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.
