She/her. Asexual fantasy author, freelance blogger, and lover of bad musicals. Moth House 👐. THE WOUNDS OF WISDOM out now! https://books2read.com/u/mqYLv2

What you need to know about me is I started a group chat where I announced my new project is a whodunnit about the murder of a writing group member who submits a 600 page AI-written book to be workshopped. Pretty sure our new groups will be people who laughed v people who did not laugh.

I don't know if I think this warrants being ARRESTED, but I do think it's an incredibly funny and very 26 year old theatre person way to handle the situation as opposed to just quitting or [checks notes] having an honest conversation with the cast.

Pixie Casey@pixiecasey.bsky.social · 2d ago

in insane local news, the 26 year old director of a rocky horror production was arrested for sending threatening messages to himself in order to get the play shut down bc he didn’t want to deal with cast drama www.mynbc5.com/article/rock...

A3. Not necessarily on a worldview scale, but all three protagonists have some harmful views of themselves - Promise thinking she needs to be like Zire, Del thinking she's just inherently monstrous, Nissa thinking her magic is fucked because she's bad at it and not because of abuse. #LateNightWrite

#LateNightWrite Are there any harmful beliefs your main character starts out with that they need to unlearn? How well do they deal with their worldviews being challenged? Quote or reply below using the hashtag!

A2. Fox Eyes has a divide between druidcraft and arcana that I honestly find TOO cliche and want to nuance a bit, but it overall fits the theme. Where arcana is easier and faster and more convenient but also can be more harmful to the natural world in excess. Because...again, see A1. #LateNightWrite

#LateNightWrite Are there any instances in your setting or plot where the misuse of magic/technology has negatively impacted the world or society at large? If so, how is magic/technology regarded in the aftermath? Quote or reply below using the hashtag!

A1. Actually Fox Eyes has a big lie at the heart of it that the villain has been perpetuating. Mostly came from me being angry at corporations who destroyed the planet and then shifted the blame onto "individual responsibility" but the current climate has ALSO fed those ideas. #LateNightWrite

Blackbird@blackbirb.bsky.social · 4d ago

#LateNightWrite Have you ever written any stories centered around one big harmful lie or scam? Does the current, uhm, artistic landscape--let's call it that--make you more or less inclined to explore these types of themes? Quote or reply below using the hashtag!

It seems Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has been briefed on Fancy Farm. "Rand Paul apparently said I’d been 'neutered' by my legislature. Rich coming from a guy who’s never had a pair of balls and if he did they’d be held by Trump."

Bild

Had the panic yesterday of "maybe I should pull Wounds and try tradpub, I just don't know if my books will ever find their audience this way." But I think what I ACTUALLY want is the freedom of selfpub but also...way more resources and time to effectively market. Which feels so far away.
