Actually, Thunder and Lightning really does only strike at the moment of perfect dramatic timing like in the movies. It's just that it only does it for one person monologuing at a time so it seems random to everyone else

We exist under tyrannical, undemocratic conditions and are acutely aware how impossible it is to hold anyone in power accountable. But we don't really acknowledge how this awareness chafes at us, moves us to despair and grief and rage that sublimates into viciousness and ire at those we can reach.

Years ago some of us noticed that it was mostly marginalized, indie creatives who were taken to task for perceived failures in appropriately labelling their work or putting out 'problematic' art; a trend that largely continues today. Those who are more vulnerable can be more easily punished.

Which isn't to say that small communities, indie spaces, or those without institutional protection are flawless and incapable of doing real, material harm. Nor that we should ignore when such people are bigoted or exclusive. But very often, the response exceeds the transgression in scope and harm.

British people proudly announcing their transphobia is quickly turning into the Avengers Doomsday meme "Cheese McBeefington will reprise his role in Britaingers Empire day" Who?

These new characters. Are so much worse. And more frustrating to deal with. Than the Katherine individuals. Ever were. Utterly horrendous. I do not condone. My progenitor's continued insistence. On spawning these failure women.

"Camp Miasma" makes me think of the tortured relationship queer people have to media. About the tension between falling in love with imperfect, flawed, distorted reflections that many of us are resigned to as the best we're allowed to have, and the desire for MORE. For something REAL.

My mum was telling me last night that trans teenagers have flat out stopped being referred to her mediation services. A few years ago, there would be dozens every year and in the last two years it's zero.

My current theory is that tiktok is the death of men's culture. Because once you've seen how truly embarrassing LARPing as a survivalist or a hunter really is, movies like Rambo or The Revenant just can't be made anymore without that stink hanging over it

"make sure you take lots of rest on flare up days" Have you considered that if I make my wife a delicious meal that will make her happy? Have you considered that at all?! I don't think you've thought this through

When I got diagnosed with terminal transgender disorder and read "Raven meets the criteria for a DSM-5 Gender Dysphoria Diagnosis" I thought that made me a level 5 tranny, like it was a cult or something. I didn't know what the DSM was. What a simpler world I lived in back then...
