Emma and I basically sat down to write lesbian futurist wish fulfillment set in a dystopia because we're both radfems who recognize that even if Firestone's vision of an end to reproductive labor comes to pass, the lingering cultural memory of patriarchy will make it suck somehow.

"What if we lived in the golden age of body modification but society was still transphobic" may seem a wild concept in Attack Dogs until you remember it also kinda describes the present world

We can't afford to keep fighting within the rules of the system. We will always be disadvantaged as a working-class community fighting billionaires and the patriarchal state. ( 3 / 4 )

The old rhetoric about “single-sex spaces” and “protecting children” is useless here, since this is about adults being denied their bodily autonomy despite it affecting no-one else.

but it doesn’t matter, because they don’t need those pretences anymore to get what they want. They have all the institutional power and we have none.

They’re on the offense, in the driver’s seat, mask-off and with the upper-hand. We can't afford to keep fighting within the rules of the system.

we will always be disadvantaged as a working-class community fighting billionaires and the patriarchal state.while we admire the gains made by trans supporters working within the healthcare system
to change it, we can all see how easily the attitudes of those in power change when abandoning trans people is convenient.

Simply appealing to the better nature of those at the top still leaves the power in their hands to betray us later.

We will only gain concessions through DIRECT ACTION. we must have our own organisations, our own healthcare systems, and strong mutual aid networks. the powers-that-be will not concede an inch until we are a coherent threat from below. We cannot afford to waste even a second when our survival is on the line.

What’s happening with the Welsh Gender Service has been covered elsewhere more eloquently but to see the main architect of all those cancelled surgeries being celebrated is absolutely ghoulish. Not a single thought for the lives he’s impacted here, in pursuit of his hatred.

Well there we go. Surgeries cancelled and surgery referrals stopped. Good to work with @hugocdaniel getting this across the line. Read more in tomorrow's Sunday Times.

I suspect it is all kicking off at The Welsh Gender Service right now. They may have been sending too many people for surgery.

There's a chance that people might consider some of the things I say here to be excessively vicious. I want to emphasize that I consider the politics espoused to be so self-defeating, utterly without merit, and yet so ubiquitous and constantly reiterated that I have to repudiate them harshly.

The companion episode to our discussion of "The Will to Change" is now out on Patreon! Talia and Emma discuss Jacob Tobia's "Before They Were Men", an autopsy on 2010s-era trans activism that effectively demonstrates the moral cowardice of Western trans liberals and their politics of appeasement.

Oop think I actually need to get my ears checked because I'm actually finding it impossible to hear what people are saying to me if there's even a little bit of background noise like in a coffee shop or something
