Yesterday, my neighborhood signed a letter with over a dozen other community organizations across the Northeast, downtown, and the Westside urging our city leaders to do everything it can to protect KCATA’s 11 Line, working-people, and union jobs. You can read it in Spanish and English below.

The vast majority of presidential candidates started off somewhere locally. City councils, county commissions, and more oftentimes have a greater impact on your daily life than what comes out of DC. If you think you're not qualified, take a moment to look at who's in the WH.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Rebuilding the urban core and making it a more attractive, accessible, and affordable place to raise a family is a necessity for the future of our city. Lots of ways for us to get there!
Tristin Amezcua-Hogan@tah.bsky.social · 2y agoThis is very interesting! Side note: We can clearly fit tens of thousands more people into Kansas City’s 1950 boundaries. We’ve done it before, we can do it again. A necessity for city services and tax base reasons, not to mention the housing crisis.
This will be a massive blow to our neighbors. All politics is local.

BREAKING NEWS: Just received word that nearly 1,000 federal union members in Kansas City will be laid off tomorrow. These workers are at the IRS campus across from Union Station and are all probationary. ~40 temp workers through a temp service were laid off moments ago.
Spent the morning at the first KCMO Public Budget Hearing at the Gregg/Klice Community Center. Popular topics today included transit funding, arts, vision zero, and sidewalks. Transit fund was by far the most common topic! You can provide your input to the budget here: speakeasy.kcmo.gov/en/
If you live in the KCPS district, you have an opportunity on April 8th to vote YES to dramatically improve our schools. This will be the first bond that the school district has passed since 1967. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is for the future of our city! Vote YES for KC kids!

The Heart of Westport Neighborhood Association shares the same core concerns as every other neighborhood I’ve attended: -want to feel that concerns are heard/considered -want responsiveness from their city and elected officials I know that these are principles we all share and can easily address.

We had multiple reports from neighbors in the Westside that ICE was conducting operations in the southern portion of the neighborhood. Please stand with your neighbors and support the groups that are working to defend them.
What a great event in Midtown tonight! Kevin, Stan, and the rest of the Midtown Now team do such a great job for some of my favorite neighborhoods in the city.
