My wife made me go to the emergency room; I've gotten IV fluids and an abdominal ultrasound. This is what I had to pay. I have insurance.

Well, mine aren't as pretty, but I can confirm they are worth the faff, especially since I can freeze some for later. I might try a typical 3-step breading station next time, along with freezing the thighs before breading. The cornstarch–egg white slurry made too tough of a shell, IMO.

Alan@gammacounter.bsky.social · 2d agoOnly learned recently that this thing I’ve been calling Queen Anne’s Lace for most of my life is actually also called a “wild carrot.” Totally blew my mind. I didn’t eat it, but it *smells like a carrot*. There were hundreds, so I pulled one and washed off the dirt at the riverbank.  
Lunch! Zucchini-feta fritters made with chickpea flour, green onion, and mint, served with a dilly yogurt sauce. An excellent way to use up a glut of any sturdy veg. I have made these with grated kohlrabi, grated carrot, shredded cabbage, etc.
Every other time the Liberals let the company and the union work it out at the bargaining table, the Conservatives had a meltdown and demanded back-to-work legislation. Every. Single. Fucking. Time. Now they're cheering that the Liberal government "got out of the way." Just absolute hypocrites.
Our incompetent medical establishment is failing us.

Why do I mask? Yes, it's because I have an immune system issue and need to avoid Covid. But the real reason is 6 years of empirical data. I don't get sick anymore! I used to be sick multiple times a year. Missed several once-in-a-lifetime events I still regret. Mask means not sick? Gimme mask.

About making their family and friends sick. And they just accept that as a thing that'll happen. Like there's nothing to be done.

If you're scared about being the only person wearing a mask, I can tell you that most people do not care. I've been masking for the past 6 years. I've travelled to several different countries in that time. I've never had Covid and I've endured a handful of snarky comments at most. Be brave.
