A big part of Donald Trump's appeal among his ~30%, ride-or-die core is that he's the first president to be sincerely, authentically stupid and incurious in the exact same way as the fabled Median Voter. *Nothing* about his unintelligence is a gimmick or a put-on.

I cannot co-sign this enough. A lot of 2016 was backlash to an educated president. The right spun his intelligence and race into the idea that he was was an insult to “real Americans.” And so lots of people lined up behind the dumb, incurious racist. And now they won’t let go.
