7. For scientific progress and OUR understanding of the world this is of course very bad news. The only way to change this is to refocus on discovery NOT being prolific. In our days Galileo would have had not time to look at Jupiter, he would have reported telescopes in different colors instead.
This is an interesting idea. Since journals are keen to make authors declare when they have used AI, might authors want editors to do the same...?
I think @richardsever.bsky.social has it right here - if you want your work to be freely available, it’s going to be freely available to everyone, including shitty AI bots. What I’d like is statements from journal editors that they will not use AI judgment for any part of the editorial process.
If you posted your preprint under a CC-BY license, you already gave permission to this kind of re-use, whether you like it or not. But very relevant question for preprints posted with the option "all rights reserved", or under a CC license with clauses NC (non-commercial) and/or ND (no derivatives).

What if you're not interested in ribosomes? First, HOW DARE YOU. Second, MissAlignment's got you covered. We took a tiny subset of EMPIAR-11830 containing parts of the nucleus and looked for nucleosomes. Here, further reference-based alignment with M made no difference.

I noticed that the results of CS denoising were good, but a bit stochastic (some particles were gone in one run, but clearly visible in another). Combining the results of multiple denoising models by taking the minimum value at each pixel helps. github.com/olibclarke/c...
@olibclarke.bsky.social finally listened to your ccpem talk, the calmodulin result is very intriguing! I wonder what you would get with data from a more recent detector as you said, but also from a HexAuFoil grid. The example of CODH (Emma Hesketh's talk) suggests it helps for small particles.
