Woohoo! "Electoral Amendment (Miscellaneous Matters) Bill 2026" Don't have the text but word is this is scrapping Group Ticket Voting. #springst
There is still time, but it's been very quiet the last couple of weeks regarding the issue that actually matters. #springst
Oh yeah we rollin’
#BREAKING 🚨 Victorian deputy premier Ben Carroll has informed Jacinta Allan he will run for Labor leadership, according to reports from The Australian and Nine – just weeks after promising he wouldn’t Allan has said she will contest any leadership ballot

I thought I had already seen the dumbest ideas for referendums I was mistaken (this is re: Australian *electorate* names and bounds)
"A public referendum must be held for any and all name and boundary changes" (sub 80). That is possibly the dumbest proposal about anything that I have ever seen in my life.
I wrote about the White Australia policy, the myth, the fantasy, for the Conversation.
‘White Australia’ has always been a myth. Hanson lamenting its end is wrong – and dangerous
Australians have every reason to be angry at our political elites. But Hanson’s nostalgic and false history does not hold the answer.

I've spent all week writing an articl exactly on this topic for a forthcoming special issue on the manosphere in AHS. Stay tuned 👀👀
Pauline Hanson has long been completely cooked on anything to do with DV or the Family Court and bloody hell do I hope this blows up in her face because it's about time one of her repugnant opinions kicked her party's polling right in the guts

Ladies - don't complain - the police have had a "gutful" - they've got “real crime” to deal with 🙄 "“Do you know that domestic violence takes up about 75% of police officers’ time now?” the senator said. “And that’s all they’re dealing with. And the police have had a gutful of it."
she’s an MRA. Been saying it for years.

Didn't want to contaminate previous retweet with my own commentary but Victoria MUST abolish group voting tickets next week. It's not a debate, you're either for democracy (even with a suboptimal quota) or against it, GVT has been gamed to death and must go. #springst
First term incumbent Kim O'Keefe will not recontest Shepparton (Nat vs IND 6.8%) #springst
I've never liked the history repeating/rhyming thing, but its wild that 93 years ago, Eric Campbell, leader of the New Guard (Australia's largest fascist movement), also took trip to Europe to learn more about the far-right bs he was spewing and came back spouting more bs.
Pauline Hanson's European travel benefactor still a mystery, but One Nation leader says it wasn't taxpayers

Australians are waking up to the One Nation con
One Nation's support is slipping as voters increasingly see through the party's rhetoric on multiculturalism, economic competence and whose interests it really serves.

This, from 1922, is the correct way to handle a dog interrupting your politics: 'Efforts to part the dogs were of no avail. But Mr Lazzarini was not perturbed. "Let em fight," he shouted, "it's only Earle Page and Billy Hughes having a scrap."
Tony Abbott has corrected his (or his AIs?) bizarre false claim that there is an electorate called Truganini in the ACT. But it's a very weak sorry-not-sorry, he seems to be implying that because he was astonishingly sloppy everybody else might be too.
This is a pretty silly argument imo. Ignoring the many other ways we could either reduce energy costs or use other revenue streams to keep them lower, the bigger picture is, if the system is so bad that we need to consider blackouts to keep prices 'reasonable', maybe we need to rethink the system?

After watching the Odyssey my son pointed out that Agamemnon spends most of the time aura farming. Both true and a warning from gen Z.
Fun fact: Hallett Cove Beach station is 1 of only 3 train stations in Australia named “Beach”. The other two are Brighton Beach and Williamstown Beach in Melbourne. If we include trams we have Newcastle Beach in Newcastle, and Main Beach on the Gold Coast.
HALLETT COVE BEACH, 22.9 km from Adelaide, is a major station serving Adelaide’s outer southern suburbs. It has two side platforms underneath a large shelter, with a similar design to neighbouring Hallett Cove station’s shelter. (1/5)

Few factual issues in this Abbott op ed: 1. Franklin is not a Federation division. In the 1901 election Tasmania was contested as a single five-member division, the five single seats started from 1903. 2. There is no seat of Truganini in the ACT. archive.md/EsHvu

Keep seeing stuff about AI in family history. Let me tell you a cautionary tale. Last week, a mate asked me to help her research a crime she'd heard about on social media. A 10 year old girl sentenced to transportation, a mudlarked memento found in the Thames close to Millbank.
