This isn't something that I'd think would need to be said, but based on an email I just received, apparently it does: Insulting a magazine and/or their EiC in a response to a rejection isn't a good way to get published by that magazine.

🚨Short story acceptance alert 🚨 Town Full of Broken Tin Men, originally published in @apexmag.bsky.social's Robotic Ambitions anthology, shall be getting reprinted in MetaStellar. It deals with the themes of PTSD and what it means to return back to civilization after war!

My story, "The Town Full of Broken Tin Men" will be in @apexmag.bsky.social's Robotic Ambitions anthology, which is available for preorder right now! It's about a young father-to-be in a nineteen-fifties style suburb, who starts to have some very unsettling visions of robotic men🤖

said it before and i'll say it again: the number one writing hack is just to make friends. you can either spend an hour in an obscure & contentious reddit forum trying to figure out what a 2012 camaro sounds like or you can ask your buddy, the Car Guy

"The best exercise is one you'll want to do." -- this is advice for physical fitness, but I think it applies to art, too. The best writing is the writing you'll be drawn to complete. Chase your fun.

I was finally able to find dairy free plain yogurt so I'm making chicken tikka masala for the first time in nearly a year. I'm also going to try to make gluten free, dairy free naan. This could end up a complete mess, but I am so excited!

If you're a new writer and wanting to level up your skills, please don't turn to AI as a beta reader. Join a writers group - either locally or online. Swap stories with other new writers. Get into those deep conversations about craft. You'll learn so much more that way.

I be a bundling! Check it out for a discount of two of my books and an issue of Apex Magazine with one of my stories.

If anyone out there thinks requesting books from your library not in their system, I beg to differ. The past several months, I'd guess half or more of my borrowed books have been newly purchased by the local library or the Danish Royal Library.

Y'all don't want teens to go to the beach, ride the bus, or go to the mall. But y'all also don't want them staying home and playing video games or being on their phones or social media. So what do y'all expect teens to do? Sit silently and stare at the wall? Come the fuck on.

We have decided to remove a short story from Issue 153 of Apex Magazine. After meeting with our reading and editorial teams, we'd like to share with you what happened, and importantly, how we plan to move forward from here. Thank you for sticking with us. 💜👽

As someone who reads slush on a regular basis, I have many many thoughts on the AI-subs stories being shared right now, but one thing is for sure: I hate what AI generated stories are doing to zines and publishers and writers. It makes things harder for everyone who is doing legit work.
