20 years ago I killed Flash with my #JavaScript library script.aculo.us. Now mostly petting cats. Also dabbling in #retrocomputing and #astrophotography. He/him.
Talking with folks at a coffee shop before @xoruby.com about how experienced developers have never had more free time. I suggested it would be incredibly helpful to early career folks to get their questions to folks who could help them. Ahmed Nadar said “So … you want to re-create Stack Overflow?”

Amazon is now defaulting to their LLM when searching in the app. This is awesome to save money because it always takes forever to get any results! Great life hack.
Going full mad scientist in my kitchen replicating how the U.S. Army printed orders and maps in the trenches of the Western Front… (Just a very normal research day.)
New consumer computers* sold now have less storage capacity than computers sold 20 years ago**. Progress! *often 128GB SSD **e.g. iMac Core 2 Duo from 2006 had 160GB hard disk standard
I like seeing the dev of the SNES core on the Pocket actually telling one of these dudes off. Holy shit.
Anti-Prime Day starts…NOW! 🥳 Today through midnight on 10/7, enjoy free shipping site-wide, all while supporting local, independent bookstores.
imagine talking about the book you wrote while putting yourself as the object of the act of writing instead of the subject. imagine claiming to be a victim of the book *you* claim you wrote

It’s literally cheaper and quicker for that small business to make photos of the food that they already make on the phone cameras that they already have ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
LF Lightning-Barugh@cheeseford.bsky.social · 13h agoAnother café doing an AI flyer that looks like all of the others. People saying they won't eat there, others saying why blame small businesses for using AI? Yes, of course, the environmental cost, but mainly, it looks shit. How much for the ball bearings on an armadillo, topped with matchsticks?
Personally I find the Apple AI stuff minorly useful for showing important mails and summaries for it; but unless you use Apple Mail honestly I don’t see what it’s good for otherwise ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

in the art fraud world, faking a signature is the killing stroke for a legal case. the smart fraudsters let a faked artwork work its way through a series of deniable attributed-to's and in-the-manner-of's and let the buyer fill in the blanks.
Andrew Deck@andrewdeck.bsky.social · yesterdayChatGPT is adding the signatures of real New Yorker cartoonists to its AI-generated images. So far, I've found the signatures of more than 15 contributors. BEGGING people to look up terms before using them for library social media. “BBW” doesn’t mean Banned Books Week
It's kind of maddening that William Gibson and Bruce Sterling are the two people on here who put by far the most Ai slop into my timeline.
Wonder if the 2020s will be known in the future in IT as the “LLM bubble” or as the “RAM crisis”
OK who of you keeps changing the menu options in phone trees???

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social · 2d agoAI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
my camera dick is bigger than yours* *LF shooters, you did not see this
Actually really like the size of this Casio WQV-1, it seems a bit big at first but really it is comfortable on the wrist and doesn’t feel bulky; and it’s super readable
![Research [25] shows that people [26] enjoy the feeling of winning games [3,5,19]. Enjoying things can lead to longer life expectancy [2], higher economic productivity [9,22,33-40,302] and improve mental health [9]. Yet many games still include losing players [67,4]. A recent study showed that less than half of the players in a Chess [1] match win on average [42]. We have developed an LLM-driven co-creative [66], user-led [11], mixed-initiative [80] assistant for Chess [2], through which players can redefine the rules of Chess [3] using generative AI prompting such that they are the winner of Chess [4]. A study (n=3) showed that 100\% of people felt better, healthier and more self-actualised after using our tool, showing that this may be the way forward for games and human culture more broadly in the future.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:h5kgtr755iczaqxomeh2pmh7/bafkreicu2p2o3is64z5k37n222hgahp67ssca6ro3nggbjtpwasig2zzbi)
