#50: I'm so tired but I finished the book that was giving me power. The secret is the "squirm": the least motion you can make that is somehow forward. The wiggled big toe. The lie on the floor until the floor pushes you upward. The open your sketchbook and stare at a blank page and then put it away.

I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

Realizing that the clientele of the donut diner this fri nite is exclusively old men eating alone and reading their phones while listening to earbuds and also me, who am of course a different kind of person. I don't have earbuds, for example

Actually how are we surviving right now? What are our nice little things we're doing for ourselves? (I'll start: here I am at the nice donut diner eating a sandwich I can not really afford, but that's for end of pay cycle Jeanne to worry about)

I am never in the city of a friday night after working late at the library on edits, never here in this f train to see the Young advancing, made up and restless, to their weekend assignations. An army of promise

I appreciate any establishment's right to enforce no-laptop hours I just need it to not be every establishment and i need to the ones who do it to be called NO LAPTOPS I am a millennial child of the grind and I am not made for these gen z times I feel like a smoker

TNG: office DS9: dive bar VOY: found family ENT: BBQ at divorced entrepreneur's house DISCO: $8000/week summer camp PICARD: NGO that ivy league grads work at for a year or two before deciding they can actually do the most good in finance

I just finally crash landed for the work day and only then realized that one of the things I did today was email peaches about a blurb & I didn't even like --internally remark on that. It is just something to do so I did it and it's only now that I'm like wait damn that was a weird thing to do today
