statistical seismologist at ETH Zurich, mathematician at heart. interested in earthquake forecasting, strange loops, and everything in between.

🚨 QuakeHack 2025 was a blast! Huge congrats to the winning team wave2wave 🌊 who tackled earthquake research straight from the waveforms. 🧠 They were thrilled to take home a Raspberry Shake! 📦 It’s en route to Santa Cruz – more action shots soon! 🙌

What an incredible week at #QuakeHack: A statistical seismology hackathon for early-career researchers in the Swiss mountains. 19 people from around the world, four teams, four self-defined projects. We spent the week learning from each other, exploring new ideas, and figuring things out together.

The main DEI page from @agu.org has been modified to take diversity out of the title. Glad to see it's not deleted entirely, but hey AGU, we're watching what you do and remembering the big game you once talked about supporting your diverse membership. Today vs. January

The ACS has deleted its website on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Respect. And with that move, have shown they are worthy of none of the latter. People ask why no-one stands up to fascists, this is why - they are too worried about their own standing to challenge it. www.acs.org/about/divers...

Only a few days left to apply to join the #Quakehack, the first statistical seismology hackathon for early-career scientists! Early-career scientists without institutional support are also encouraged to apply, financial support can be made available. Info and applications: quakehack.ethz.ch

It's now live: QuakeHack, the he first statistical #seismology #hackathon for early-career scientists is happening next year! 🎉 Applications are open until end of January: quakehack.ethz.ch Share the word! With thanks to the Swiss Seismological Service, @seismosocam.bsky.social for the support

With so many new people, time for a new intro: I came from pure maths to statistical seismology 5 years ago, and I love it! 🤩 whenever volcano friends need help in the field, you'll find me happily hiking unbelievable landscapes. But usually, I'll be behind my computer, just as excited (almost)

Wow, so many new followers in such a short time! Hello everyone! I'm Leila, I do statistical #seismology. I mostly look at past seismicity and from that try to say something about future seismicity, aka #earthquake forecasting. (1/4)

So, now that we've all made it to #EGU24 and are already overwhelmed by all the science, may I challenge you to stay until the very end? I will say something about higher-order aftershock modeling, but the whole session should be cool and worth staying alive for until then!
