This segment about Tolkien and the appendices from the new episode of Shelved by Genre is going to live rent-free in my head for a while I suspect.

Fourth game of Trench Crusade was maybe the most fun I've had with wargaming ever. Absolutely loony tunes nonsense. The spellcasting mechanic of the Court of the Seven Headed Serpent made for a completely different experience.
This week's issue of Multiplier is a real treat. I tracked down the co-founder of Witching Hour Studios for a retrospective on the criminally underappreciated CRPG Masquerada ten years later multiplierau.substack.com/p/why-didnt-...
Why didn't Masquerada make its mark on the CRPG crowd?
How many songs, shadows, and star power does an indie RPG need to succeed?

Hi Internet! I'm Drew and THIS IS MY FACE. If this GIF has ever brought you joy in the past, I humbly ask you to consider making a donation to the National MS Society. It would mean a lot to me and to those I know affected by the disease! Donate at blinkingguy.com
It is better to have Big Walk'd and gotten lost than to never have Big Walk'd at all.
Third game of Trench Crusade was the best to date. Only one or two better dice rolls away from snatching a draw or win from the jaws of defeat. Assassin continues to be the best model in the Iron Sultanate arsenal and I got my mind around how Blessings work!
I realise this may be a contested topic, but if the rumours are true and Apple is putting cameras on AirPods it truly might be a contender for the dumbest thing the company has ever done.
Recently learned about this scene from a British Anti-Bullying PSA. Idk why my British moots were hiding this from me bc this is peak reaction gif material.
Ur Willy is Rubbish
Alt: Animated school boy is running fast down the street. He pulls out his phone and he receives a text from his bully that says "ur willy is rubbish". The boy looks up and sees the spirit of his bully grimace behind him as he continues to run.

Absolutely crazy for them to recommend watching that last Captain America movie
Disney+ has released an official Avengers: Doomsday preparation watchlist, with 15 Marvel movies and TV shows you should catch up on before December 18, including a few deep cuts like Fox's X-Men and X2. https://bit.ly/4gibQ4L
This is such an incredibly fun and fascinating read from Jamie, the best kind of shit you can get up to on a non-commercial reader-supported videogame website like this week in videogames dot com!!!1
In the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, there is an island. It's 1,700 miles from the nearest major city. The population is 220 people. There's one Steam account. @jamiehore.bsky.social set himself the ridiculous task of finding the most remote gamer in the world. This is their story:
Watching a list of JoJo themes ranked on YouTube and shaking my head disapprovingly and muttering 'shoulda been higher...' like it's the Hottest 100
So I'm still early into the first ASOIAF book but from what I can tell Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark were kind of the westeros version of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck
I forgot to post about it yesterday because everything is a bit on fire this week but this week's issue of Multiplier is a hoot! Really intrigued by ANGEL when I saw it at ALT earlier this year multiplierau.substack.com/p/is-this-in...
Is this indie game more about racing or finding the rhythm?
Low poly. High speed. Flow state.

You can keep this on mute and it's a great silent film of someone's soul leaving their body
This bit just now with Kornacki getting word Wisconsin election officials fucked up was pure cinema.
Is there a good app out there like Backloggr that supports both video and board games? preferably one without any garbage ai features in it?
Saber PR responded to my post by saying that the story was written by people and no writers were replaced, buuuuut also that the game uses AI generated text and voices. C’mon man lmao
Saber Interactive denies replacing writer with ChatGPT on its new driving game, but says it will use AI for dialog 'as the number of passengers in the game is infinite'
Despite the admission, there's currently no AI disclosure on the Rideshare "Stimulator" Steam page.

I didn’t even see this had been announced. I was lead writer on this one! And Saber replaced me with ChatGPT midway through development. All the passenger voices were AI too. Either they changed direction at some point or they’re not disclosing it on Steam
For some reason, this was the first game I played when I bought my Steam Deck. I did not think it was particularly good but its resurgence is perhaps promising sign of things to come with regards to delisted LOTR video games like BFME, etc www.pcgamer.com/games/action...
A long-lost Lord of the Rings action RPG makes a surprise return to Steam
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North was removed from Steam in early 2019.

sorry to the haters but the CORRECT order to play the series is A Short Hike Big Walk Marathon
The green light has come through and so I am thrilled to confirm will be at @paxaus.bsky.social this year with my most deranged panel pitch to date (feat. @stephpanecasio.bsky.social @zacspeaksgiant.bsky.social @nomibelle.bsky.social and @lawksland.bsky.social)
Boba tea and dumplings is the movie night combo that simply cannot be beaten IMO
Name your fav movie theater snack.
Second game of Trench Crusade down. Gelling a bit more with the rules and thought a bit more about my roster this time. Made some bad deployment choices and lost but got to do the Iron Sultanate Assassins double charge teleport ability twice so can't be too mad.
Finally seeing Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma tonight. Crazy to think about watching I Saw the TV Glow in the back row of a fully booked out VMAX cinema - what a way to experience that film for the first time.
Troubled to learn that Microsoft/Bethesda went ahead with Quakecon...
