having fun making bad games :) he/they • 24 • adhd 💀 4x award-nominated indie game developer ⚔️ 🎮 bachelor's in compsci + gamedev 🖥️ --- my links: linktr.ee/badgameszip support my work at patreon.com/badgameszip! ~

in case you noticed the little "changed handle" label on my account, that's because i migrated my account to northsky yesterday! i knew what that was when I originally signed up, but since then I've completely forgotten. but what's done is done, I'm sure it'll be fine

Anyone have any controller recommendations? Stick drift on my old one is getting worse daily and fixes I've tried don't seem to help Ideally easy to set up for PC, and categorically nothing produced by Microsoft please!

Tiny pixel art renditions of pokemon, each using a low colour count and extremely low resolution, with heavy use of anti-aliasing to create blocky shapes. From top left, proceeding clockwise, they include Seaking, Ekans, Voltorb and Ninetails

Just your local gave dev here to remind you, to play a indie game, support independent media, and get off social media you could be doing something that you enjoy with that time.

Aerial knight

i was researching vector dot products literally just now and Google ai kept trying to give me some terrible explanation, while the literal FIRST result was a beautiful breakdown of the concept why tf would you trust the skeevy ai's VERY dubious info when you could just look at a trustworthy source?

"this stuff actually IS valuable. if it wasn't, people wouldn't be stealing it. rewatching hbomberguy's plagiarism video and just having to pause at the obvious but easily forgotten point that I needed to feel with my whole soul at this moment.

the worst thing is when people online put these kinds of reviewers on a pedestal. its not a point of pride to dump dozens/hundreds of hours into a game you didnt like and its even worse to decide you didnt like it after youve gotten a ton of hours of enjoyment! its gross and entitled and stupid imo

Glad you liked Maze Mice enough to play it for 141 hours and leave a negative review! I'll get right on adding *checks notes* a hundred more mazes to the game so you'll leave a positive review.

A negative Steam review for Maze Mice with 141 hours played. It reads:

I love this as a base to a game. It's very satisfying with it's gameplay loops, and a PERFECT way to get a quick steamdeck sess in before before bed. However I'm going to hit dislike becuase the devs clearly did not know what they had here and in my opinion left the game unfinished despite being decently polished. I'll upvote if ANY new content comes up ever.

I would pay twice the cost of the base game for DLC if it did the following:

Balanced items, make the more niche ones far better for what they are tuned for (or rework)
Add more synergy to items
add a way to gain points to block items from coming up (maybe at the cost of wasting a level)
add some more enemy types or even just behaviors for diff colored cats/ghosts
add counters for how many times each mouse won a game
add some kind of bonus to the mice for the item they start with, and even a negative in theme
make a late-game char that also starts with nothing like the first but has a heavy handicap with a fun bonus

I could easily go on, but this is a start to actually making this a GAME. A hundred more levels, a few levels with a tunnel from top to bottom instead of just left to right, maps with no tunnels, maps with a lot of full tunnels. Traps within the maps that come up fairly against the player, so much could be added. Surely one person with the knowledge of making this game could pump out some content and make you more money.

You can thank @badgameszip.itch.io for the added no-guides mode and my lazy self for the cramped up menu. Getting any programming done has beed hard lately, but here's some progress: the timer now seeks attention when there's less than 10sec left. Placeholder GameOver view, going to add stats to it.

i have no idea what else to do with this, so if YOU want to play the doom tda dlc and dont want to give microsoft any cash from your wallet, here's a steam code i was gifted it but i dont want it. first come first serve, enjoy! 4XZNY-CJHA0-KWCBH

Game design and fiction writing are, for whatever reason, two jobs that most people think they could do instantly at a high standard, with zero experience or evidence. I don’t know if it was a smart idea to focus on both as a profession. Certainly an occasionally frustrating idea.

granted it's not esoteric, but this reminded me of explaining to a design manager why designers pushing vibecode to prod is not a good idea & getting countered with "saw it working though" thank you, very infuriating :D a toast to any fellows having to put up with Dunning-Kruger mountaineers 🥂
