I'm gonna be honest, waiting and seeing how a new platform is gonna pan out before starting to use it can actually hurt the chances of it surviving. Sometimes you gotta jump in at the start and help it grow. Be part of it getting to where it'll be a competitor for the big dogs.

October 9th. #HelpFolksLive2026 thread. Something's *always* due & food is *always* needed. Things only get better with community action. *Now* is when folks need food, water, shelter, meds. *Now* is when we/the community needs to be there for each other. There's no one else. Just us.

sorry basically the problem of my life is that i internalized and believed a lot of stuff people said about valuing children and loving your neighbor and living in a society at the exact moment that everyone in power decided all of that shit was fake and gay and not a way to make a living

You ever read that Graeber essay where he attributes "teen rebellion" to that being the point in a person's life when they figure out that all other people operate exactly the opposite of they way they were told to operate AND THEN have adult(s) tell them "Tough shit"? The existential betrayal.

Completely off topic (or maybe not) for OP’s point, but I need to staple this post to everyone’s forehead, b/c too many people get caught up in the format of stories, & don’t realize that it’s all stories all the way down with humans. Literacy is learning to recognize the shape of the stories >

Human beings process information through narrative, through story. We think in stories, remember in stories, plan for the future in stories, worry in stories, dream in stories and connect with one another through stories. When we read to children we embody our deeply human birthright as storytellers

I think it's easy to dunk on other artists for being behind on their queues. But something I would rather do, is one day write a comprehensive guide for how to get back on track when you find yourself overwhelmingly behind, burnt out, devoid of cashflow and completely buried in overdue work.

What I'd like to do with Thoughtcrime is to make afro-fantasy/future/grimdark/whatever stock art more available to ppl. It becomes a sel-reinforcing cycle: every time I want to do something in TTRPGs, it is easy to find plentiful sources until I want black faces, then... it gets difficult.

So, the reason I made this post: I have a model in mind that I want to put forth to the the visual artists and other creators in my feed. I want to know: - is it feasible and fair as a visual artist? as a creator looking for stock? - Is there a better model/structure already out there I can use?

I usually design my business cards to be conversation-starters. But at after too many endless awkward discussions at recent events, I realized I needed a new type of card. The conversation-ender.

A stack of business cards reads in English and Korean: Generative AI is unethical, annoying, and anti-art. Anything it touches will fail, and be a mark of shame on human history. I do not wish to discuss this further.
