Around me in Central Ohio, we've been told that large corporate data centers are built on "low quality" land but around here, that "low quality" land is habitat for my beloved Grasshopper Sparrows, a species that has already declined 90%+ in the state making some stickers about that
Help me in congratulating Maddy! is an elementary school student and her goal in life is to become a herpetologist. #FindThatLizard Scholarship Recipient 2/4
Last year you all helped me raise almost $4,000 in scholarship funds. I’d like to introduce you to the wonderful scientists who received a #FindThatLizard Scholarship. 🦎
Can you #FindThatLizard ? Last weekend's Lizard Art Walk was soooo much fun! During the event, I take folks on a short hike, and then we sculpt lizards out of clay. We talk about the different lizards we might see, the microhabitats they live in, and why they're important to their ecosystems. 🦎

The Pacific Northwest experience earthquakes from 3 general sources: 👉 megathrust earthquakes along the plate boundary between the Juan de Fuca and North American plates 👉 shallow earthquakes within the overriding crust 👉 deeper earthquakes within the subducting slab.
It continues to be interesting to me just how many men, when presented with a clear and obvious answer to a test of morality and empathy, will nevertheless choose to "devil's advocate" themselves into a position of complete assholery
People are commenting Save The Academy on all of Drexel's instagram posts and I think that's pretty cool. If you're looking for something to do tonight 👀
Puerto Rico is in a water crisis, as a US board slashes the island's social/infrastructure spend to protect corporate bondholders, and a developer tries to build a $2.5B private city on acres of untouched coastline. As one councilmember explains, much of this exploitation can be traced back to NYC.

I’m tired and ready to go to sleep but I still have tasks 😭😭I say I’m gonna get up in the am and work but I always hit snooze. Will I or the or the sleepy slut (as we lovingly call her) win??? Find out on next weeks episode of Dragon Ball Z.
Herpetology is very much a white and male field because of racism. There's no getting around that. Historically and presently Black people were/are not seen as knowledge holders and contributors by the academy.
Take a break from the chaos and #FindThatLizard!
Dr. Earyn McGee@afroherper.bsky.social · 3w agoCan you #FindThatLizard?! 🦎 Lizards pant to cool themselves off when temperatures get too high! All animals need ways to cool down, lizards included, because they can overheat. Humans sweat, birds bathe or swim, and pigs roll in mud. So it makes sense that lizards would have a cooling strategy.

Can you #FindThatLizard? I did!
Dr. Earyn McGee@afroherper.bsky.social · 3w agoIn addition to panting, lizards move from sunny perches into shade. However, this means they lose time for catching prey, defending territory, or finding mates. Panting allows them to stay out longer. It does come with some potential trade-offs. Panting is a form of evaporative cooling.
Once a week a wonderful wander into the world of lizards with Dr. McGee!

Can't make it this weekend? Contact Josh Shaprio's Office Phone:717-787-2500 And Mayor Parker's Office Phone Phone: (215) 686-2181 City council is with us. Drexel thinks we're going to give up. Leadership thinks this will just blow over and they can cash out. Do not let that happen.
Sarah McAnulty, Ph.D.@sarahmackattack.bsky.social · 3w agoAttention Philly Families! Bring your kids, friends, & neighbors down to the parkway on Saturday from 2-6pm. It's a kid-friendly rally to support the academy!

This is horrific. This man was shot in the back by ICE and has been taken out of the hospital and put back in detention, *with the bullet still in his back and his entire left side paralyzed.* He was forced to sleep on the floor and given no pain medication. www.macombdaily.com/2026/09/22/i...

A classic Black girl experience is spending hours on your hair and then absolutely hating how it came out 😭
I would like to point out that the local people in Bolivia were already familiar with the new cat species, traditionally calling it "Tilcayo", a name honored by the scientists who carried it over into the formal scientific name Leopardus tilcayo.
