I think it's reassuring in a very small way. It speaks to how unpopular transphobia is; if they felt confident about it, they wouldn't be talking around it. Nobody wants to admit candidates are struggling because they're bad on trans issues because the average person might agree it's disqualifying.

I think it's important to note that Aaron Rupar's votescolding demagoguery against "purity politics" is very obviously about voters turning their back on transphobic Democrats, but does not mention trans people in any way. That's very indicative.
