i am genuinely bewildered by people who say that the rise of white nationalism in the republican party is a response to the "woke left." like, did the woke left cause pat buchanan's 1992 presidential campaign? is the woke left why steve king had a long career in congress?

The explosion of e-bikes, e-trikes and e-scooters is truly revolutionary...The joy and freedom of biking is intoxicating for everyone who has had the opportunity to try out life on two or three wheels with a little e-boost.

Op-Ed | E-bikes mean freedom for low-vision cyclists like me: don’t take that away | amNewYork

So did a lot of other people who, like me, don’t have valid driver’s licenses. In July, the state’s new e-bike law went into effect. Among other regulations

A macho culture of performative selfishness might start on the roads, through racing, rolling coal, ever bigger SUVs ... But it doesn't end there. If we want to live in a decent country which values human life, we need to change this culture. My column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Driving that’s too fast, too dangerous and utterly lawless: why do we tolerate this petro-masculinity? | George Monbiot

In towns and in the countryside, I see 4x4s and pick up trucks driven without care or consicence. It’s a Magafication of transport, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Yet again, traffic engineers are gobsmacked that a road closure didn't create crippling gridlock: "You’d never know that a massive highway project, ominously dubbed 'carmageddon,' was underway seven miles away...cars [were] speeding across the Interstate Bridge at their usual clip."

The social and intraprofessional consequences of saying this in the year 2026 — in Colorado of all places — should be akin to claiming you've met Satan or have visited the Hollow Earth. But no one has a more secure assigned seat in the discourse than the conservative Trump critic.

undoing the ridiculous and expensive CO2 limits on power plants. Frustrating to see

talk about "climate pollution" as if that's a real thing. NOBODY should believe the fiction around the "studies" that claim that some particular limit on CO2, also known as plant foot, will save some number of lives.

I've been very negative about Trump lately but he's right to reiterate that "climate change" is basically a hoax. I don't mean the climate doesn't change; of course it does. I mean that 1) we shouldn't assume climate change must be harmful, and 2) we shouldn't assume that the costs of "doing something" now are less, or even only slightly more, than the costs of adapting later should it be necessary. The latter is MUCH smarter policy.

Paris is a city that's been WINNING the WAR ON WALKING. In the past decade city leaders built 300+ School Streets, launched a 15-minute city and reclaimed their downtown waterfront. It's a place people can enjoy an evening outside on what used to be a car freeway. This is what every city deserves.

Don’t buy the lie about a war on cars. They’ve been waging a WAR ON WALKING for a century. #UrbanTruth #WarOnWalking

TBH I'm not familiar with this source, but saw this in a newsletter and this doesn't seem too surprising "Our findings show that both LLMs and VLMs make yielding decisions which are influenced by pedestrian gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, skin tone and socio-economic status"
