What I wanted was some links, but that's not what Google does in 2026. Oh man, this. All this. This has been mildly freaking me out for about a week now. A large part of the proof for that can be found in everyone else's Gauntlet sequels or homages which are all entirely different games because there's nothing there.

Saw something in a nostalgia-bait FB post about Gauntlet and this is an excuse to go off on my pet theory which is Gauntlet is a rare game that primarily and arguably ONLY works as a coin-eating arcade game:
