Trump’s arch will harm historic sites but must proceed, federal officials say

National Park Service officials acknowledge that President Donald Trump’s planned arch would harm dozens of historic sites but say it must move forward anyway.

This is why Trump can’t stand Black women. They don’t take his shit. Let’s appreciate Rep. Joyce Beatty for being the fighter we need. Trump: “I think you’re incompetent.” Beatty: “I know you’re incompetent.” Then she reminded him: “You had more bankruptcies than anybody in the room.” 🔥

An hour thinking about something besides politics as we continue to explore the CT coast. Unless you count feminism, unavoidable when celebrating a powerful model of self-determination long before the '70s second wave, who liked to say that "if you don't paddle your own canoe, you don't move."

Glad @kim.senate.gov is calling out this “DC makeover” BS. “Overhaul” should also be banned. Trump is running roughshod over our beautiful capital and we’ll be working on repairs and restoration for years to come.

Stop calling this a DC makeover. This is an illegal desecration of our capital and a huge waste of American families’ money. DC is sacred ground, and we shouldn’t minimize the real damage being done.

Trump-GOP's 2025 tax policies in action: "Budget forecasters say payments are down 25%, or $96 billion, after falling 15% last year. That’s fueling complaints those investment breaks are providing a windfall for the tech world, and giving a bad deal to taxpayers." www.politico.com/news/2026/09...

Corporate tax payments plunge as AI feasts on new incentives

A generous tax break on capital investments Republicans created in 2025 wasn't designed specifically for the AI boom, but hyperscalers are making the most of it.

Who knew that defacing the building, tearing up its trees, removing its sculptures, replacing the Board with political cronies, giving the finger to every performer who isn’t a Trump voter, and talking down its facilities daily would cause a revenue drop?

Kennedy Center could close as early as Tuesday, warns of bankruptcy, documents show

Officials said the center is facing “certain fiscal collapse” within weeks, insist that adding President Donald Trump’s name may be the only way to avoid bankruptcy.

you don’t have to have the conversation on their terms and in fact you shouldn’t have the conversation on their terms more democrats should follow this playbook instead of existing in a constant defensive crouch

Abdul El-Sayed: "Weijia, with all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... "

Trump's golf project will be far more expensive than anticipated and take way longer than anticipated. Plus it's already under way "without clearing the necessary bureaucratic hurdles or identifying how the project will be paid for." So, business as usual. 🙏 for our city. Gift link 🎁 wapo.st/4cGnO7i

Park Service works to fortify sea wall key to East Potomac golf project

Rebuilding the sea wall could add hundreds of millions of dollars to the project’s cost and push a completion date years down the road.

Shanah Tovah, New York! Wishing all Jewish New Yorkers celebrating a sweet, joyful and meaningful Rosh Hashanah. Here’s to a new year filled with health, happiness and blessings (and yes, even another Knicks championship).

Absolute insanity, coal and "misuse"-of-power edition: Trump is trying to force coal plants to stay open, which means dirtier energy, worse public health, and millions (possibly billions) more in costs to consumers. Fortunately a federal appeals court today said no. Gift link 🎁 wapo.st/4cHBq2a

Court deals blow to Trump’s plan to revive coal

Emergency orders forcing plants to remain open have cost ratepayers nearly $1 billion, according to utility filings.
