While faith based organizations should be included in the continuum of care, they should use evidence based care (and some do!). However, prior work suggests that religiosity can bias our decisions about addiction treatment, which may not always be in the best interest of all clients.

To prevent fatal overdoses and treat addiction, the U.S government has invited faith-based organizations into its national drug control plan. Experts warn that this course suggests a shift from evidence-based, harm-reduction strategies.

The clear and mostly ignored (within the US) influence of gambling industry members (yes Kalshi!) on gambling harm prevention and advocacy in the US is a disservice to all gamblers and communities impacted by gambling. Their collaboration is needed to prevent harm but not like this.

My research shows that, generally, people perceive technology, including social media, as moderately to very addictive. But, what people mean by that is more up in the air, and doesn't always match how we think of substance use disorders (as you might hear in the video) www.bbc.com/news/videos/...

We are hiring at Ohio University! We have several positions with open searches in the department because we are growing. Links and positions in thread. The psych department at OU is wonderful, as a newer faculty, I always felt supported and the area is beautiful!

Beaten to posting about it but had a good time talking about sports betting and the impacts in Ohio with Spectrum News. There is a lot we are working on in Ohio to try to better support those with gambling problems and the TEA Lab is continuing to do work in this area.
