Conservationists + Catron County (NM) residents are calling out a plan by the Catron County Board of County Commissioners to declare a “state of emergency” due to wolves in the County. However, there is no incident in recorded history of a Mexican wolf attacking or injuring a human.

My second climate article is now out! In this article I look to add context to where the current climate change movement stands in relation to past environmental movements and why advocacy is essential for creating institutional change. Let me know what you think! www.linkedin.com/pulse/topic-...

On the Topic of Progress: A Brief History of Climate Advocacy and Climate Policy in the U.S.

As I see it, progress occurs in two ways: societal and institutional change. Societal change is simply the shifting of ideas within a population.

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back. This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008. Also bigger than the 2024 DNC. And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

As an early career scientist and PhD student one thing I plan on making a staple in my career is climate communication and education. With the recent attacks on science, now seems as good a time to start. So if you have a few minutes please check out my first post: www.linkedin.com/pulse/10-ind...

10 Indisputable Facts for Understanding Climate Change

Conversations about climate change can often be confusing, complex, and loaded with field-specific scientific jargon, making it nearly unreadable for larger audiences. While some of the target audienc...

Check out this piece on the Hazard Services Branch at NOAA GSL. I had the pleasure of working with Emily and Taylor (in article) and the rest of the HS crew the last few years. This article is a perfect example explaining how our expert civil servant scientists are literally working to save lives.

Now, Emily Schlie develops software to support NOAA's weather forecast offices. Third party apps get their information from NOAA. Weather apps can't provide things like tornado warnings without that information. Read more: www.cira.colostate.edu/cira-admin/n...

As a cadet one of our summer trainings was named in her honor “Task Force Perez” That summer we learned about her exemplary leadership as a cadet and officer. Any attempt to erase her story or impact is a disgrace to values of Duty, Honor, Country for which she made the ultimate sacrifice.

THREAD. Look what they’ve done. @PresidentBarbie.bsky.social I remember reading in 2006 that 2nd Lt. Perez had been killed. I thought “this was our future President, stolen by this unnecessary war.” I have never forgotten her. This photo is from the exhibit at NMAAHC. She will never be erased.

Had the privilege of working with NHC while at NOAA the past few years. These federal workers should be seen as essential assets for the U.S. improving public safety and science communication. This article should come as no surprise to anyone!

The most deadly hurricane in US history was the one they had no warning of - the Galveston Hurricane of 1900. So this is good news from @drjeffmasters.bsky.social. Warnings save lives!

Please share this REAL impact! AK colleagues tell me 17 of 20 ppl were terminated from Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center (MGVC) in AK. I’ve worked w/ this professional and wonderful group serving the public & they have a display in their museum about the Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP). 🧪

NOAA does a lot more than weather forecasting. Here's the list of line offices. Its value extends to so many different sectors that the public would be shocked to realize the volume of decisions made based on what NOAA provides. This is an agency where the "trickle down" theory legitimately occurs.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024. You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right? Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year. You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

Originally introduced in 2018 to congress, and reintroduced on Jan 31, 2025, the attempted termination of the U.S. Dept of Education. I would recommend scientists & educators share this one and bombard your representatives to make sure it doesn’t make it anywhere. 🧪
