Early on in my writing career, I came across the advice that if you ever have to resort to a thesaurus, you're on the wrong path. I keep a thesaurus tab open and frequently think, "That's some ableist, elite bullshit," as I search for a common word I know but my brain can't dredge up from the fog.

If you've encountered the Litchfield Institute writing contest & are tempted by the huge prizes & small entry fee, writer beware: un-named judges & faculty, no verifiable info on the Institute itself, & a web domain just 9 days old. Pretty shady IMO www.lichfieldinst.org

I've noticed a huge difference in the #s of people registering for Bookstore Romance Day virtual events this year compared to last year & I think it has a lot to do with the implosion of the birdsite. It's incredibly disappointing & frustrating. Attendance is really important & the #s aren't there.
