Small whites mating in my garden recently. Despite the hot weather, there’s plenty of long grass & shady areas for them to hide out the intense temperatures of late. They’re doing well due to planting lots of nectar plants for them, including Buddleja, Verbena, Marjoram, Echinops a& Greater Knapweed

Nothing wrong with enjoying and sharing species which aren't rare or hard to find. Here's a Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) that is just as beautiful as any other butterfly.

Mean number of butterflies per 1000m on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects per habitat last week. The high number on heathland comes from Silver-studded Blue (heideblauwtje, P argus), which can be very abundant. Overall Meadow Brown (bruin zandoogje, M jurtina) was the most abundant species.
