It’s the last day to donate in support of Knit For the Girls 2026 🩷💝 Nine Ten is proud to be a sponsor of this wonderful campaign by Thread And Maple, Grocery Girls Knit and Louie & Lola Yarns to raise money in Canada, the U.S. and Australia for breast cancer research!

In WILD DYES OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, author, biologist and fibre artist Zoe McDonell guides you as you discover the vibrant colours of plants, mushrooms and lichens found in the beautiful lands of what is known as the Pacific Northwest.

Over a background of a section of the cover of the book WILD DYES OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, is the quote “Our wild spaces are not imperilled because too many people are out practising ancestral skills, it’s because too few of us are,” attributed below that to Zoe McDonell in WILD DYES OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.Over a gold background is the entire cover of WILD DYES OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST surrounded by some flourish graphics, with a badge at the top of the image saying “Coming Nov 17th, 2026,” and a rectangle of teal at the bottom of the image with the text “There’s still time to pre-order
Wild Dyes Of The Pacific Northwest at your local bookstore in person or online!”

We are proud to sponsor Knit For The Girls 2026 🩷💝 This campaign, organized by @threadandmaple, @grocerygirlsknit and @louielolayarns, brings together crafty people across Canada, the U.S. and Australia to raise money for breast cancer research, as it has for six years now.

Over a pink yarn-patterned background is the Nine Ten Publications logo and the Knit For The Girls logo, over text reading "Proudly Supporting" and the logos of Breast Cancer Canada, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (U.S.), and the National Breast Cancer Foundation (Australia).

There's so much amazing basketry, knitting and crochet in films and TV right now, it has me really missing the days when we could commission articles about it. So I wrote a bit of a Digits & Threads appreciation post, with a lot of links! 📸 Pic I took of my television of the show BELOW.

Oh, also, I commissioned cover artwork and spot illustrations for this paperback. The artist is from Alberta and she is a DELIGHT. Also, this makes this book more spendy than our other b/w books, BECAUSE ART. Hence the pre-order campaign. shop.ninetenpublications.ca/products/pra...

Pre-order now and reserve your copy! Every pre-order will come with an exclusive 5x7 postcard featuring one of the original illustrations by Geneva Haley.

I have described this memoir as both the most literary book I'll ever work on, and also THE MOST Canadian book I've ever worked on, which is really something given that I only publish 🇨🇦 books. I LOVE IT. Tara is a marvellous writer; her prose is quirky, engaging, and raw. You should pre-order it.

When Tara Klager traded the suburbs for forty acres in the shadow of the Canadian Rockies, she meant to raise a rare breed of sheep and maybe write about it.

Over a photo of a grassy field in the daytime is an image of the cover of the upcoming book PRAIRIE WOOL, with some swirl graphics around it. Above the cover in a display font is the text "Pre-orders open", and below is the text "PRAIRIE WOOL, by Tara Klager, with illustrations by Geneva Haley, coming Feb 9th, 2027, pre-order today at shop.ninetenpublications.ca."

I'm so looking forward to getting this book. Do I have a place to do any kind of dyeing? No I do not. Yet. But a woman can dream. (Leery of dyeing in our kitchen because 1. It often involves toxic shit, yes even natural dye; 2. Kitchen so tiny; 3. It's a rental & landlord would not love me for it.)

🤭 Did you know the terminology of basket weaving is totally blush-inducing? Have you been thinking more about basketry than usual in anticipation of a certain movie coming out? 👀 Check out BASKET WEAVING FOR BEGINNERS by @halfmoonbaskets.bsky.social and dip your fingers into willow basket weaving!

Over an image of small wicker tables, baskets and wall hangings, text reads “Are you familiar with the, um, suggestive terminology of basket weaving?,” with an arrow pointing to the next page and a pair of eyes emoji.Over an image of a wicker basket and a large wicker fan with a tall vase with flowers inside in the background is the text “Slender weaver
[slen-der wee-ver] - noun: a long and narrow branch of willow that is woven back and forth between the thick rods of a wicker basket.”Over a close-up image of many wicker baskets and natural fibre hanging bird nests is the text: “Thick Rod, [thik rawd] - noun:
a broader willow branch with “a thin tip” and “a thick butt” on each end that is used to create the ribs of a wicker basket (BASKET WEAVING FOR BEGINNERS)”.Over a darkened photo of stacks of various different styles and types of wicker baskets is the text “What interesting terms did we miss? Let us know in the comments! Pre-order BASKET WEAVING FOR BEGINNERS today!!”.

Last night we had a dream of an event at The Perfect Match here in Vancouver. GATHERING COLOUR author Caitlin ffrench joined the shop's book club for Emily Rath's DEVOUR ME and taught everyone to make a plant charm, with infused honey and plants for anything from warding off hexes to welcoming love.

Author Caitlin ffrench holds her book, Gathering Colour, at the far end of a long wooden table that has a variety of plants arranged down the middle along its length, with pink rose petals scattered to either side. Low bookshelves are behind Caitlin and they are stacked high with books as well.Behind blurred greenery, the book Devour Me, by Emily Rath, is in focus on a table.A tiny black cat stuffy with big yellow-rimmed eyes hangs with a botanical wreath slightly in front of a dark grey t-shirt with pink writing on the front that says, Perfect Match Bookshop Vancouver, BC.The book Gathering Colour, by Caitlin ffrench, takes up most of the frame. Beside it on a table are some greens and botanicals, and the edge of a word search printout.

So, yep! We're running two pre-order campaigns right now; for one (below) we're encouraging you to pre-order the book through your local bookstore, and for the other (basket weaving!) we're encouraging direct orders from us to finance production of the zine. Why such different asks? A 🧵
