Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO
There appear to be at least three separately operating heel factions breaking things within the government in wholly different ways right now. There's the Miller-headed immigration one, the DOGE/Elon one, and a Project 2025 OMB one. This dynamic hasn't showed up in mainstream reporting at all.
Three Wins Today (Feb 1, 2025) 1. Hundreds of students at ASU held a pro immigration protest in response to right wing students learning how to help ICE 2. Costco and Teamsters reached an 11th hour tentative deal, so there will be no strike 1/2
I do not recall a 24 hour or one week news cycle with more disturbing news about the state of the presidency and the US government in it than those of today and the past seven days. January 6 was nothing compared to this. But make no mistake, this too is the gov't being torn apart by a mob of thugs.
To those flabbergasted & shocked by this week, please remember our country won't change until millions of apathetic people feel what you're feeling right now. It will take TIME. Don't lose yourself in the interim. Find ways to feel safe, feel joy, love a lot. Build a stoic calm amidst the chaos. 🕊
