US POINTER study showed a significant improvement in global cognition for a structured intervention (physical, social, and cognitive activities, MIND diet, health monitoring) compared to self-guided intervention equivalent to 1-2 years of aging #AAIC2025. Evidence that behavior change can work

Takeaways from U.S. POINTER top line results: ➡️ Both a structured & a self-guided intervention improved cognition, with the structured group improving even more. ➡️ Cognitive benefits were consistent across age, sex, ethnicity, heart health status and APOE e4 genotype. bit.ly/USPointerRel... #AAIC25

Had a great time presenting my latest work on effects of pregnancy and AD risk on functional connectivity in middle age at #OSSD2025 🧠⚡️ Thank you @ossdcomm.bsky.social @whrcluster.bsky.social @camhnews.bsky.social #womenmind for hosting this fantastic Pre-Meeting and the opportunity to speak!!

Up next @bonniee-leee.bsky.social on how previous parity influences functional connectivity in an animal model of Alzheimer risk (hApoe4) - bonnie calls this the Parity Paradox www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

The end of a chapter.. 🥹💙 Endless thank yous to everyone who has been a part of this journey - lab mates and friends, other graduate students, mentors, collaborators, and of course, my supervisor, @liisagalea.bsky.social, for the support and mentorship over the years. #PhDone !!!!!! 👩🏻‍🎓

Homeostatic microglia initially seed and activated microglia later reshape amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s Disease This further adds to the mounting evidence that microglia are perhaps much better at Aβ plaque formation than plaque clearance. What a fantastic study 🤩

Homeostatic microglia initially seed and activated microglia later reshape amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s Disease - Nature Communications

The role of microglia in Alzheimer’s disease is debated. This paper shows that homeostatic microglia seed amyloid plaques in early disease stages and activated microglia compact plaques at later stage...
