Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
Anyway back to my ongoing theory that women use AI to get more done and men use AI to get out of doing more.
I don’t really want to get into this with people who feel this way, but i don’t think this is a good thing! We don’t need to behave this way! It’s not healthy to approach academic discourse as an exercise in harshness!

Also: this isn’t just about science. This will devastate the entire federal grant funding process, which means all academic research grants, arts grants, community project grants, agriculture grants, conservation grants, etc. Please leave a comment opposing this change.

I left mine: I simply noted that four different executive orders (three of which have been determined to be viewpoint discrimination) do not provide the basis for ignoring over forty different statutory frameworks enacted by Congress to provide grants.
