this sorta reminds me of this new thing of people being like "pole dancing is so awesome, i wish it weren't so sexualized!" when it is an art form developed by strippers. it's not bad for something's primary goal to be sexual arousal! it doesn't mean it's inherently less interesting/good!

there's sort of an impasse w/r/t female-oriented literary smut where it is pretty much just porn, but misogynists think that's disgusting and shameful because they hate women, and the women who read it think that it's so much more than porn because they hate porn.

art takes engagement and thought. a lot of thought. it takes a lot of will and determination and recognizing you're going to have to care a lot about the stakes of details that objectively do not matter to anyone else but you. it does feel like sanity slippage sometimes, so take care of yourself.
