There is something extra annoying about finding a government "open data" portal that has exactly the data you're looking for and then discovering that only nationals of that country are actually able to use it.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!

Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"

Our latest @bruegel.org: How Europe should respond to the Iran gas shock – and how it shouldn’t tl;dr The EU should prepare for persistently higher gas prices and use this crisis to advance long-term decoupling from fossil fuels by pushing electrification 🔗: doi.org/10.64153/JZB... 1/5

How Europe should respond to the Iran gas shock – and how it shouldn’t

The European Union should act now to head off growing impacts from the Iran conflict on gas prices and availability

Great 🤦‍♂️ We are in an energy crisis, and EU countries decide to spend a lot of money boosting energy demand -- thus making the crisis worse -- and subsidising wealthy households, at taxpayer expense! Should've rather targeted assistance, as e.g. income support, to those households who need it.

(3) The majority of measures are untargeted and focus on lowering energy prices - instead of helping vulnerable groups and promoting structural change And here the link again: www.bruegel.org/dataset/2026...

For the first time ever, heat pumps outsold gas boilers in Germany in 2025. 48% of all new heating systems installed last year were heat pumps. Gas fell to just 39%. A decade ago, heat pumps had a 7% market share. The transformation has been remarkable.

How many more studies does your city need proving that people on bikes and on foot spend more on shopping streets than people in cars? But the store owner LOVES parking in that spot right outside… Bike-lanes mean business. #UrbanTruth
