The brilliance of REBEL RIDGE is that it’s a slow burn thriller that wastes no time. Every frame is rich with pulsing intention. Saulnier delivers my favorite Netflix film since DOLEMITE IS MY NAME and firmly mints Aaron Pierre as a movie star. I only wish I could’ve watched this one in a theater.

Not a great movie, to be sure, but a solid prison thriller where Redford's charisma is well-matched by James Gandolfini as a thin-lipped sadist.

This is great. This film has always been a disappointment. It always seemed like a meal of the best ingredients served cold on a paper plate. The opening credits are great and just keeps sliding after that... Looking forward to learning more.
